Matts Surfing

First time surfing Whangamata. 2-3ft with odd 4ft sets. Strong West wind making it tricky conditions. Had some nice waves. Finally got to pop in and met the Andersons., Pete & Kim. Ordered a new 5'11 epoxy Kinevil board...can't wait.

Surfed 2-3 ft North Piha this wednesday. Real fun surf, first time at this spot. Banks were working well.

Maori Bay was 4-5ft. Light varible winds but conditions were raw. Solid 14 sec period swell and a lot of water moving. Muriwai much the same so I just sat on the high tide reforms which were not working well. A young surfer snapped his board and has drowned. Sad day today out West.

Sunday - Solo Maori Bay 2-3 ft. Water is cold and there was a solid sweep sending you north towards the rocks. Banks not really working.
